Energy Week in Brussels

What is EU Sustainable Energy Week?

The EU Sustainable Energy Week showcases the latest innovations in energy efficiency and renewable energy technology, policy and practice through a varied programme of events and happenings across Europe.

Anyone can organise and take part in events during Sustainable Energy Week, which is designed to demonstrate to businesses, decision-makers and the wider public that sustainable energy technologies are viable, cost-effective and good for the environment.

In Brussels there is a packed programme of high-level debates, conferences and exhibitions. Organised by the European Commission and other bodies, the events bring together industry representatives, scientists and decision-makers and offer an ideal networking opportunity.

At the same time, throughout Europe, schools, associations, companies, public authorities and many more hold their own own Energy Days.

Last year, 328 events took place in 30 countries during EU Sustainable Energy Week, which was launched in 2005 and is the key event of the Sustainable Energy Europe campaign.

One highlight of the week is the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards ceremony, a glittering event in Brussels which recognises the best and brightest projects of the past year. The 2010 ceremony presented awards to five projects out of the nearly 300 that entered the competition.
